Meet Our Team

Dominique

Dominique

Owner

I am Dominique, originally from France. I have been living in the Washington, D.C. area for over thirty years.

I am a lab addict, and have been living with those amazing dogs for a very long time. I grew up with them, learned with them and from them, and still do.

From my heart dog, Zeus, who was crippled with arthritis to Sophie’s rehab after TPLO surgery, to Lola’s, Jackson’s, Maia‘s and now Zeke’s love for retrieving, swimming was the answer. Yes, rivers and lakes are fun, but after a bad encounter between Lola and a beaver, we decided to move to safer grounds.

I built the pools that my dogs were dreaming of, and there is nothing more rewarding than seeing dogs having fun and our senior swimmers becoming young pups again!

And I am the proud Mom of two labs: Zeke and Ziggy (The "Z-Boys")

Maia, K9 Aquatic Greeter

Maia, K9 Aquatic Greeter

Greeter

A poster of Maia will now greet you instead of her.
Maia crossed the Rainbow Bridge on December 18, 2017.
There will never be another greeter. It was her place.
Every morning, she was waiting by my front door at home by 7:30am just to be sure that I was not going to forget her.

Lauren and Chunk

Lauren and Chunk

Swim coach

Lauren has been with K9 Aquatic Center from almost the beginning. On a daily basis, Lauren pops up in our FB memories.
Lauren just moved on with her life in October 2023 but she is such a big part of K9 Aquatic Center that she has to stay on our website. The pools would not have been the pools without her aboard.
She has been a constant Zen, kind and caring presence at the pools. I am not sure what I would have done without her during COVID.
I wish her the best and I hope one day, I will be in a jet where Lauren will be the Captain.
In the mean time, I hope that she will drop by now and then with Chunk!

Carmen

Carmen

Swim coach

Carmen has been a team at the pool since almost the beginning of COVID.
She is the proud Mom of Henry, Heidi and Hallie.
Carmen loves dogs. She is patient, attentive, and bonded with so many of our swimmers and campers. In two words: she cares.
