K9 Aquatic & Wellness Center has five swimming pools that are consistently warmed to 80 degrees. All pools use no chemicals and are cleaned through a state of the art UV system. Located in Potomac, MD, K9 Aquatic Center is just outside the DC Beltway and highly accessible to anyone living in the DC Metro area.
Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy is a proven rehabilitation for dog injuries. Some injuries that can be addressed with hydrotherapy include:
- TPLO
- TTA
- Back
- Luxating Patella
- Hip Replacement/FHO
- Leg sprains
- Anterior Cranial Ligament (ACL)
- Arthritis
While some of these injuries may require surgery, hydrotherapy can be used in the rehabilitation process as it helps to take the weight off your pet in a way that other forms of exercise cannot.
The K9 Aquatic Difference: Veterinarian On-Staff
While there are some other dog swimming facilities in the area, K9 Aquatic Center is unique in the fact that we have a veterinarian on-staff as a rehabilitation specialist. Mike Rieskamp is a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner and has worked in several emergency facilities around the country before moving into the rehabilitation space. This previous experience is important as most pups that come into our facility typically are there as a result of a previous injury.
Along with Mike’s veterinary background, our owner Dominique opened K9 Aquatic & Wellness Center as a result of not having a pool nearby for her own dogs who suffered leg injuries. Her goal with the center is to solve her problem, which is probably the same one you have: a trustworthy dog swimming facility local to the DC Metro Area.
